Securing conduit to bedrock

Hello,

I do not have much experience in the field of conduit installation so I wanted to come to the experts. We planned on running conduit underground from point A to point B but as it turns out the ground is all bedrock. This area is not trafficked at all as its on the edge of some woods inside a client's campus. We plan on just running the conduit along the ground and securing to the bedrock. I know they secure conduit off of their other rock faces (very rocky area) with struts but those rock faces are vertical not horizontal. Either way I would think we would need struts still but that creates a tripping hazard in the event someone ever does want to walk through the woods. NEC doesn't seem to care about tripping hazards but in this case it just seems negligent. Does anyone have a good solution?

I am also worried about trucks. The conduit will run between the wooded area and a driveway for a maintenance garage. From time to time I imagine they get big trucks in there that aren't looking out for piping. Maybe some bollards in front of the conduit?

Would it be an option to install a fence and then attach the conduit to the fence?
This came to mind because of a previous thread that involved installing conduit on an existing fence.

Thats a good thought. I will see how the client feels about that. Thank you!

I hope this conduit is rigid. EMT installed on the ground won't last long. As far as being a tripping hazard, even if the conduit was installed to a perfectly flat surface, it would still be a tripping hazard. And I doubt the bedrock is perfectly flat.

Thanks for all of the replys. We ended up going with 10' posts that are anchored and grouted into the bedrock. The run was about 70' with posts every 10' to keep within NEC guidlines for 3/4" Conduit. All conduit is outdoor rated. We are setting the line back to avoid trucks. If they can see the trees, they will see our conduit.

That's a good idea. It doesn't have to be a fence though. Just keep it raised enough not to be a trip hazard. I would probably look for some kind of triangle/ tripod base to mount it on.
