I have a NEC 2000 book. I need help in finding what the electrical wiring requirements are for fossil fuel boilers including the type of insulation and the minimum wire gauge. Please identify the specific paragraphs.

Thanks

No you don't. It is published every three years. There is a 1999 edition and a 2002 edition, but not a 2000. What book do you have?

Those details are in the hands of the manufacturer. The NEC does not address wiring internal to equipment. It addresses the safe installation of the premises wiring and connections to the equipment.

Re: Seeking information

It could be NFPA 79 or more likely a UL 508 standard.
If you repairing the wiring then the above two are a good starting point.
If you are are intending to be a manufacturer, then its a entirely different process. Start with UL.

Re: Seeking information

I have the 2002 Edition of the NEC, (typographical error). I do not intend to install, manufacture or repair the wiring. As a boiler inspector, my responsibility is to ensure the correct size and type wiring is used and that the insulation is correct for the temperature it will be subjected to. The NBIC (National Board Inspection Code)and other boiler inspection codes reference the NEC as the authority with regard to the wiring for the components of the boiler but does not give specific paragraphs.
Any information I get will be helpful.
Thanks

So are you inspecting the wiring internal to the boiler, or field-installed branch circuits supplying boilers?

The NEC would govern the circuit supplying the boiler and associated pumps, but not any control wiring inside the boiler installed at the factory.

With so broad a question, you won't receive much helpful information. Information related to your inspection are covered in most chapters of the NEC, perhaps excepting chapters 5, 6 and 7. :)
