Seeking Normally Closed Latchng Contactor

Completely unnecessary introduction:
First post. I am not an electrician nor do I play one on TV. So I had to kind of fudge on the registration for the code cycle question. But this is the photovoltaic forum so maybe I'm not alone. I had no idea who Mike Holt was until 10 minutes ago, but now that I do, thanx for the forum Mike.

Question:
I'm looking for a normally closed contactor for my solar system. For the moment I'm not going to say why I want it or what it's for, because invariably someone will ask why I'd want to do such a thing, or tell me I'm an idiot for wanting to do it. So suffice it to say the contactor needs to handle up to 100 Amps of DC current.

In plain English I want the contacts on the device to normally be closed, and when the coil is energized the contacts would latch open. They MUST latch open, so if power fails the contacts won't close again. The coil needs to be 12vdc.

I've been poking around and it seems you don't find such an animal on any street corner. I found a site called gigavac but they have so many contactors and so much obscure electro-babble that my eyes glazed over.

Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you so much.

I am closing this thread in accordance with forum rules. If you are not an electrician, we are not permitted to assist you in performing your own electrical installation or maintenance work.

The reason is that the forum’s owner does not want a person to get an answer to the question they asked, but not get answers to the dozens of other questions they should have asked and were unaware they needed to ask. We don’t know, and can’t know, how much of this you already understand. Mike doesn’t want anyone to get injured by any incidents related to electrical installations. But he also doesn’t want to be sued by the injured party’s relatives on the basis of him not telling you enough to keep you safe.

coastalcruiser,
You are welcome to extract all the information you can from posts here in the Forum. But when someone who is not "in the trade" asks for advice on hwo or with what to do something, giving a simple answer may leave them vulnerable to other issues that they did now know to ask about. There are several other very good PV forums which are likely to be able to help you, but the owner and members of this forum, who have a professional responsibility in the area, are not going to stick their necks out to do so.
