Self grounding GFCI's

I was recently talking with a Leviton sales Rep. I asked why doesn't Leviton have self grounding GFCI's. He said that there is an exception in the NEC that says that a GFCI does not need to be self grounding when using it with a recessed metal box. I thinks he's wrong. Has anyone else seen what he's talking about. Also if he is wrong that means that every GFCI installed that I've seen would require a Bonding jumper to the box.

I complain about this every time I install a GFCI receptacle in a commercial building. Seems that the manufacturers care more about GFCI devices used with NM cable and plastic boxes in dwellings than for commercial work. By the way the rep was incorrect.
