I am currently getting my home’s Service updated. I am running 4-4-4-2 aluminum underground from my meter to the exterior main, and from the exterior main to my panel inside. The meter base is where my ground is connected to the neutral and also where it is fed to the rod next to the pole. The electrician is adamant that I need 4 wires from the meter to the main even though they are bonded at both the meter and the main. I was under the impression i would only need 4 wire past the main to the panel as I would be keeping the ground and neutral separate in the panel and throughout the house?
I don’t want to sound like a dumbA and would like a third party explanation. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated!
