Re: Separately Derived System

A winding to winding fault on the end user transformer will flow through the premises wiring back to the exterior distribution transformer.

The only way to prevent this from occurring is to feed the primary of the distribution transformer with an ungrounded secondary from another source.

This connection will make the only electrical connection to the premises served by magnetic induction. The definition of a separately derived system.

Ed: Run a conductor between two different transformer XO's. Ground each XO at a different location. You will measure current with the transformers shut off.

At this time I want to announce my departure from participating in these forums. I am receiving many complaints about my style, and negative remarks.

I apologize to anyone who was offended.

My regards to everyone.

Re: Separately Derived System

Bennie I for one would not want you to depart.

I find it surprising you expect your controversial views to be universally accepted.

This is no reason not to participate.

Bennie, you know my stance on wishing you would stay. If you do leave, I hope the best for you, and I envy you on your trip to islands.

I'm sure I'll still champion some of your views at times until I leave too.

Best Wishes

Roger

Re: Separately Derived System

Bennie, I can think of a lot of people of today and yesteryear with thought provoking ideas and language like Bush, JFK, Goddard, Von Brown, etc whose ideas were heavily criticized. I do not recall them going into withdrawal because they were criticized, HANG IN THERE!

Bennie,
Even though we often disagree, I value your input to this forum. I know that I have learned a lot from your posts and would miss them. You have always been a gentleman with your comments and there is no reason for you to leave.

Bennie,
This forum would not be nearly as interesting without your thought-provoking ideas.

I hope you will reconsider.

Bennie,
I have been reading your views on this forum for @ 3 years and would truly miss them.
I have not in this time read ONE (IMO) out of line, rude, vulgar, disrespecting remark to or about anyone.
Your thoughts and opinions have made me think and re-think and think again. You are an admiration to all.

To any nay-sayers on this site, paraphrasing one of Bennie's own comments, 'you're only a mouseclick away from reading another topic'.

Bennie,
If you do go, thank-you for all of the times that you have given me.
I for one would like to see you retract your statement about leaving.

Re: Separately Derived System

Bennie, I'd like to thank you for all the insights you've given me into electrical theory, especially grounding and the purposes of it.

I've learned to think "out of the box" a bit from your posts.

I especially enjoyed the stories of different kinds of work you did in your career.

I do hope you'll reconsider.

You impart knowledge here that some of us would not even begin to know if you did not participate. Because on one or two subject items you are not in the same boat as some others is no reason to leave. Having a discussion where some disagree is very good for the forum. :D

Re: Separately Derived System

I promise I will start my own website, when I return from the Marshall Islands. I will have an electrical section and one dealing with the nuclear tests from 1958 to 1963. Also an awareness of the Marshall Island people.

I will review the electrical systems in the Islands, who knows there may be a chance to assist the residents in upgrading their infrastructure.

I will be back on the internet, but will need control of my own presentation.

Thanks for the support

Regards;

Bennie

As a relative newcomer to this forum (May,2003) and compared to some of the others, a newcomer to the trade only 13years, I have since the beginning looked fowrward to your replies to each new topic. Your years of experience, wisdom and insight cannot be replaced. Your presence here will be missed more than you know.

bennie:

I am a new comer to this forum and as matter of fact I originated from far east but I found your thought here most right.I study electrical engineering but our electrical code is simmilar to NEC because it is our basis when we draft our own code.
Don"t go away.Your ideas are trully realiable, I know it because I studied % years in University.

As for the pannel I am sorry because I though those people are all professional as like in our country when we draft our new electrical code to update to the new technologies. We have three category : RM (register master electrician) RE (register electrical Engineer) PEE( professional electrical engineer) I am RE.
Your words and ideas are correct specially to this topic.
For other just accept if you think it is right and reject if you think it is wrong, this is an exchange of ideas not of provoking and be gentleman in our language for we are professional , act as a professional
Bennie : many Thanks , stay , don't leave, quiter is a loser and we are not a loser.
