I have to run a 4/0 SER cable up an exterior garage wall and would like some suggestions on protecting it from exterior siding nails and interior drywall screws.
Also anything the homeowner may fasten to the walls at a later date.
Wall is 2x4 with 1/2" osb sheeting exterior, and 5/8" drywall interior. Cable is approx 1 1/2" diameter.
My thought is to run it up the wall in 2" emt through the top plate then across the unfinished garage attic and into the house.
Would stripping back the sheath inside the emt be a code violation?
The emt would be secured to the disconnect with the appropriate fittings thus being bonded.
Other ideas welcome.
