SER in Service Riser

An overhead service mast has a 4 conductor 4/0 AL SER cable inside it feeding a 200A main breaker. They are not using the uninsulated conductor. The cable sheath was stripped and the uninsulated conductor was removed leaving just a black, red, and white. Is there anything wrong with this installation?

Is the insulation type on the individual conductors? I think it is on SER conductors.

Per what Roger said, if individual conductors aren't marked with a conductor type, then they don't comply with 310.8.

Conductors that are part of a cable assembly do not have to comply, but removing them from the assembly makes them not part of the assembly.

Some cable assembly conductors are marked, not all are though.

If it were left in the outer jacket, and said jacket emerged at least 1/4" beyond the raceway, would it then be compliant even though you couldn't see the marking on the outer sheath?

The concern isn't whether you can read the wire type, it's whether the wire is a recognized type.

I don't know about where Larry lives, but here the SH don't carry much individual Al conductors.

Often, yes, especially if you already have the cable.
