Is there such a thing as a service after the main disconnect? I say these are feeders. Just because there are meters after the main don't make the meters a service. What is your opinion?

Anything after that first disconnect seperates ground from neutral so hard to call them a service

Except for that pesky alternative we discuss here every so often... ;)

A 3-wire feed to a remote building panel is wired exactly as if it's a service, neutral bonding, ground rods, and all even if it's being fed from another disconnect.

In the words of a local inspector..."treat it like service equipment until you leave out the neutral bonding jumper, even if it isn't." :)

NEC-2005, Article 100:
Service. The conductors and equipment for delivering electric energy from the serving utility to the wiring system of the premises served.
No, the service stops at the main disconnect(s).

I thought that anything after the service was a volley. At least, that is what I learned from www.wimbledon.com.
If you don't drop the ball into the little box on the other side of the net you get to take a second service. But if you miss that one, it's called a double fault and everybody has to stand on one leg until the gradient dissipates

Hey guys, thanks for all your replys. My inspector told me that it's how he interpereded this set up:
800a 3 phase 4 wire disconnect main.
2 trouph's exit the disc with 1 set of 500 mcm in each.
1 set feeds a 400 amp disc, through a meter to a M.D.P. for resturaunt.
1 set to bugs in trouph to feed a 200 amp disc through meter to house panel and bugs are feeding 2-100 amp disc for apts.
All nutrals and grounds are seperated after main. He said this is an unusual set up. This was nothing new to me.
He passed the job and said, "good job". Then he made me remove a romex connector and install a emt connector where the g.e.c. enters the disc. As long as he passes the job, im happy. :D

What do 250.64[e] have to do with using a e.m.t. connector as a chase nipple?
P.P.& L. is our utility. The prints was aproved by the city electrical dept.
