Service Disconnect Rating for a Dwelling Unit

Section 230.79(C) requires a service disconnect rated at not less than 100 amps for a one-family dwelling. Since a one-family dwelling consists of one dwelling unit, is it correct to say that every dwelling unit (in a two-family or multifamily dwelling) requires a minimum 100 amp disconnecting means?

I don't think the code language supports that requirement. Article 100 defines a "Dwelling, One-Family" as a building that consists solely of one dwelling unit. A building that contains more than one dwelling unit is not covered by 230.79 (A), (B), or (C). Only (D) would apply. The minimum service size will in reality be determined by the rules for calulating load.

In my opinion a single unit of multi-family is covered by 230.79(D).

Thanks for the input; I agree that 230.79(D) is the appropriate section for a multifamily unit.
