2005 NEC..... I thought I had read somewhere that a meter can with no means of OCPD and no disconnect IS NOT considered service entrance equipment. Around here it is VERY common to have a simple meter can ( no disconnect ) on the exterior of the house with a panel board on the wall opposite of the meter can, panel board has the main fused disconnect. 702.8 requires signage on the service entrance equipment, in this case that would be the panel board and not the meter can, correct?? Is there a code section that I can reference?

Incidentally it remains true in 2014.

The meter enclosure is not service entrance equipment. I had written a code change proposal to include that specific wording in Article 702 but it was rejected as not being necessary.
