A landlord for a small business asked to have a single 120vac installed outside his building for service work he may want to perform on the building. He does not want to tie it in to any of the tennants power. Question:

1 Outside of adding another meter is there an easier way to go about this (not including battery or gas powered equipment)
2 If a second meter is installed is a disconnect required

1. No.
2. Yes.

My question would be....... what is the reason for wanting a single 120v outlet? For service work being done? Then how much power will be used each year from this outlet, and is it really worth the additional expense of adding a service just for an occasional weed eater or what have you?

If the service outlet is for "house" HVAC equipment, then it can't come off of tenants. but if this is convenience outlet, I would tie it to a tenants

That was my question exactly! The cost to add a disconnect, second meter, convienance recpt., permit ... far exceeds the cost of a gas or battery unit. Assuming I can not change ones mind I believe a 30amp disconnect off the meter should suffice. Would you agree?
