We are working on a suite 1 of 4 that were built in the 80's. My situation is this. There is a bank with 4 meters, 1 weatherhead. Each have a 100 amp main breaker. We need a 200 amp service for suite on the East side of this building. We got the Ok to abandon the 100 amp meter and just install our own 200 amp meterbase/main combo. My problem is that local code enforcement says I can't run a service wire through wall, above ceiling of suite between meter base, and suite we are upgrading. It is my understanding that a "service wire" starts at utility company connection, and ends at our 200 amp breaker. Am I correct? It then becomes a feeder to our interior panel. If there a code that prohibits this feeder from running overhead in conduit? One management company, 4 lessors. Advice please.
