It did seem odd there was a plumbing angle on this.

Yeah. Someone mentioned painting the PVC coating on a cable and I was thinking of an application where painting PVC is actually recommended.

I would like to hear from a cable manufacturer if anyone has called.

Worked for me as it made me do some looking, and I actually learned there is also a purple pipe for gray water.

There are also a bunch of different colors available for PVC, which seems to me would only lead to confusion if you ran across some of this stuff.

I contacted Southwire: the water based paints they have checked did not affect the SER cable jacket but they could not speak for all paints.
