Can 2/0 copper SEU be used to feed a single family dwelling 200 amp service panel? Unless I am reading it wrong,Table 310.15B(6) would permit this. A contractor at the supply house swore me down that this was incorrect.

short answer is yes, it's permissible, however, read the actual wording of 310.15(B)6 (header) to be sure your servie meets all the criteria (120/240 volt, etc)...
