Obviously, such a high end installation would include auto-darkening glass in the window. Or would it?

Re: SF Dwelling receptacle spacing...

High end? The cheesy little tract homes I wire have a two-sided fireplace like that almost standard. :)

Only, they use frosted glass or blocks. :D

Re: SF Dwelling receptacle spacing...

I know it isn't our job to be interior decorators, but it helps to try to imagine how residents will use the space. I try to place receptacles where people will likely put tables. I always have 2 receptacles on at least 2 walls of any bedroom to accomodate beds, dressers, desks, and TV/stereo equiptment.

Ask the HO if possible about their use of the space. This allows your to tailor your install to satisfy code and their desires and saves you the trouble of having to cut something in after the drywall is up. Best of all, extra items can be charged for. The HO will likely be willing to pay for them because you will give them a firm price to make the additions and you are such a thoughtful contractor to be so concerned with satisfying their needs. Also, it is amazing how many things you just don't think about when going through the stress of building a home.

Re: SF Dwelling receptacle spacing...

On that tub and fireplace install, did anyone notice that the GFCI in the lower left corner is totally useless because anything you would plug into it would be bashed by the door every time you opened it?

Re: SF Dwelling receptacle spacing...

I had to magnify it and digitally enhance it and by golly you are correct. I thought it was a DF, but it isn't. woohoo!

You don't think it is to reset the whirlpool tub? Not all instructions call for an individual branch circuit anyway, therefore making it a convenience reset? Or it could be for the fireplace, like the one Bob and George had going on in the AFCI thread that turned GFCI?

Re: SF Dwelling receptacle spacing...

Throttlebody,
Sorry, I had an out of mind experience. I have recently done a GFCI like that for convience reset. I bet you are right. Thanks for reminding me.
