Shallow Ceiling Fan Rated Junction Box

Hi All,

Want to relocate ceiling fans and outlets on existing concrete walls/ceilings. What's the shallowest junction box for fan rated junction box and outlet backbox if there will be new furred out walls/ceilings? 1-1/2" deep?

For ceiling fans they do make pancake boxes down to 1/2" deep. For furred walls a 1.25" deep 1900 box will work with a mud ring.

The suggested 1900 box with the mud ring is for the walls not the fan box.

The RACO 295 box is only 1/2" deep and fan rated but is only 6 cu in so your wiring method is limited.

Yes it does limit the options. 12/2 AC cable or 14/2 NM will work.

Thanks all! How does the shallow pancake box would work if this is mounted on concrete ceiling? I think the conduit needs to be come out of the side of the box not on the back of the box.

I believe the shallowest fan box that is designed for side entry of 1/2 conduit is 1-1/2 in deep.
