I am told that sharing a neutral on led lighting will cause issues with the drivers. Is this a true statement? I am not speaking of a dimming led.

I hope not as every feeder and service shares a neutral.
The issue that you could have is the drivers are non-linear load so possibly if you maxed out all 3 legs of a multwire branch circuit you might end up with too much harmonic current on the neutral.
Just design the circuits conservatively and you will be fine.
