Re: Shared Neutrals

Steve that may be what I get out in the field, I install whatever the engineer asked for in the specs.

So it is posable that the 225 amp panels I get have a 450 amp neautral bar but I kind of doubt it. I think that would stand out. :(

On the other issue, how or why would you call that a feeder?

BATCH:

How many Infra Red photos would you like me to post with two conductors of the same phasse sharing a common nueutral and the neutral is overloaded, (all conductors of the same size).

Re: Shared Neutrals

Don I don't doubt that these are available, I just doubt that is what I am receiving in the field. :(

I think a 450 amp neutral bar would be noticeably different from the standard 225 amp neutral bar.

Re: Shared Neutrals

Like I said, I was only half serious about calling a "shared" neutral a feeder. But that is what a feeder does. It carries the "shared" current of more than one branch circuit. And if you size the neutral like a feeder, it won't overheat any more than a feeder would.

Once again, half serious. I'm ignoring OCP, I'm not saying its allowed by the code, & I'm not saying its a good idea.
