Can a neutral be shared on "line" and "load" on a GFI FEED to next outlet using 12/3 ? I'm adding outlets in kitchen islands where I would like to just run 1 run of 12/3 A/C cable down through the cabinet under the house from the first outlet to a junction box to catch the other outlets in the islands that need to be protected by the GFI. Will this work?
Thanks

However you could use a 2 pole GFCI breaker to feed outlets in this fashion.

My preference is to just use a separate GFCI at each receptacle location. You can use 12/3 to feed the _line_ side of the GFCI receptacles.

Thanks lot for the quick reply. I was pretty sure it would trip the GFI, but wanted to make sure. I'll joust have to pull 2 wires up through the cabinet to the first outlet. Thanks a lot. I had to make a decision before in the morning.

You can _feed_ with 12/3. Then at the first outlet separate the second circuit on the line side of the first GFCI, and keep things separate thereafter.

Jon, don't exactly understand what you mean. What I had thought about doing was feeding the first outlet with 12/3, using the red as "line", black as "load", and jumpering the white from line to load. That's what I assume will make the GFI trip, making me have to pull 2 separate wires so there will be a "line" neutral and a "load" neutral.
Thanks

If you jump the neutrals line-load, the GFCI will not set

Run your 12-3 to the first outlet/box
Use the black (or red) for the line side of the first GFCI and whichever wire you didn't use to the next GFCI
Pigtail your neutrals, one on the first GFCI line side, and on to the next GFCI line side
The 12-3 will have to land on a 2-pole breaker, you will have two circuits
Only use the load side of GFCI to feed other receptacles on the same circuit
GFCI load side- duplex - duplex - etc
Then same thing from 2nd GFCI
