What is that braided cable called that is used on boats? Is it the same for high and low voltage? Is there an NEC section on it, or is it in another code?
I had someone asking me what kind of cable to use for a fire alarm on a casino boat and I can't remember what cable type it was. Google doesn't want to help me today for some reason.
I was the fire alarm guy on a fire system on 2 gambling boats about 20 years ago. The electricians were using a cable with a metal braid for everything. They even checked to see if the 120 volt circuits were hot by mashing the cut end of the cable against the metal boat hull. Little black marks were all over the place and got covered by carpet later. Guess that's how they turned off the breakers for the hot cables too.
