A shower at one of our locations backs to a range 40amps j box. The box was run in conduit and had foam sealer injected in the box. It is not in the wet area but we are wondering if it will be called on at inspection. Does anyone know if this is an issue?

Thanks

When the shower wall is installed, it should be water resistant or even waterproof. The studs would rot if it wasn't.
Like Bryan, I would be concerned with the foam injection into the box - did you do that to keep water out? What about heat dissipation?

Sorry, meant to say the foam was on the outside of the weatherproof box. It encases it. I guess it was done to keep it even more waterproof.

Thanks for the quick reply guys.

I've been told that some of the foam sealants are very bad for wires insulation. One inspector I know wants the NM replaced if he thinks certain sealants have come into contact with NM.

Around here its common practice to foam the exterior of the box where the nm enters the box.I think what they are trying to do is prevent drafts.
I also am concerned about the reaction of the foam with the insulation of the wire.Does any one have any information on this?

Many homes are now completely insulated with sprayed in foam. I would like to think that there is no issue with this foam contacting the wiring. It would be an awful big problem if it were.
