I am looking for a code section that discusses the height of a shunt trip. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Shunt Trip

As Templdl said, shunt trips are normally part of the OCPD, and if this were the case, could possibly (not necessarily) be covered under 404.8

First read the intoduction to 404.1 Then look at 404.8. Dont know for sure why roger says possibly. A shunt trip breaker is both a switchi9ng device and a circuit breaker. Bet if you dont follow 404.8 and mount it at 7 feet it gets tagged. Anyway just my humble opinion

Re: Shunt Trip

Joe, I have done commercial kitchens where the Shunt trip breaker would fall under 240.10, thus not need to meet the requirements of 404.8

Re: Shunt Trip

Roger I thought the intent of that section was where supplemental ocp was installed inside equipment and thus not readily accesibleno?

Re: Shunt Trip

As the plot thickens.....as noted by DanB's post he never gave any indication as to what the application was and where it was located.
