I had an inspector turn down a final because I didn't use silicone, or another type of sealant, between the fixture and the brick. It was an outside fixture. As a rule of thumb I always use it whenever I feel that water could penetrate a device or fixture, but this time it just got by me. My question is even though I satisfied 110.3(b) but 410.4(A) doesn't say to add a substance to make sure water doesn't accumulate, where is it said that this is a violation? Thought's?

If water can enter the wiring compartment then yes you need to correct the installation... SOME lighting manufactures tell you to add a bead of caulk anyhow...this is the part of the AHJ saying that water can enter the fixure, i can't really blame him, I cant see water going around the fixture unless under a porch...

Silicone on 3R Enclosures?

Silicone on 3R Enclosures?

Anybody have experience on acceptable requirements for sealing at connection of RNC male adapters to top and sides of NEMA 3R raintight enclosures? I have seen some with sealant and some with gaskets.

I always use a thread sealer, which most bell boxes will tell you to do when installing threaded KO fillers.... just make sure the thread sealer you use is rated for PVC, alot of plumbing products are not rated for pvc...
