i guess i dont follow - AFCI's are mostly only put in for inspection 'round here and promply pulled out - so you guys pull two homerun circuts on a 12-2-2 (its even refered to as 12/4 here) and j-box when you get where your going??

dont confuse 12-2-2 with 12-4 12-2-2 has two grounded conductors where 12-4 is red white black and blue I belive

thanks that is clearly what i have been doing - the 12-2-2 is black, red, white, candy stripe white, and bare - 12-4 would be black, red, blue, and white - i thought they were the same thing :-?

(A) Wiring Methods. All branch circuits serving patient care areas shall be provided with an effective ground-fault current path by installation in a metal raceway system, or a cable having a metallic armor or sheath assembly. The metal raceway system, or metallic cable armor, or sheath assembly shall itself qualify as an equipment grounding conductor in accordance with 250.118.
So, just have the NM sheath copper-plated.
