Simpler to gut out wiring of the future?

There is probably little worse than rehabbing a money pit house's wiring. Have the manufacturers and the code given thought to what today's homes will be like in 40-50 years, with an idea to simplify replacing or modifying the wiring?

With the price of copper I hoping something wireless would be nice.
