Single phase generator, 3 phase service

Is there anything wrong with using a single phase 240V generator to supply an optional standby to a building with a 3 phase 208V service?

Also, is a generator considered a separate structure when it is away from the building?

I put in single phase generators quite often if none of the backed up load is 3 phase and it's not really that big of a load in total. Use one of these, for best results.
