If the disconnect opens the ungrounded circuit conductor, I don't see an issue with it.

277 1ph is the line-to-neutral voltage of 480v line-to-line. Thus, with a line-to-neutral circuit, only a 1p disconnect is required.

You can disconnect both conductors, but you're only required to disconnect ungrounded conductor(s). The neutral may be opened as long as ungrounded conductor(s) also open. Grounded conductor must not be fused.

Nope. You can use a 1-pole, 2-pole or even a 3-pole if you wanted to.
