Sizing an old machine not installed properly

Monarch it is then :) , they're both good machines. (We have a Monarch, too; the Axelson is large enough that the M would fit on it's bed.)

Measure the bed length and "swing" diameter and that should lead to an approximate motor size.
 
From what I've read, there might be a nameplate with motor information attached to the doorjam of the door on the left for accessing the motor. And the door jam is on the metal portion of the lathe that also supports the motor.
