THANK YOU EVERYBODY FOR ALL YOUR HELP (multi cunductor sizing )
thank you for your help
i know im just learning so please bear with me
i am a new electrical draftsman learning design now
i know about some of the tables in the NEC also
here is an example i am confused about
3/C #12 AWG = 0.167 sq. in.x 10 cables = 1.67 sq. in.
this example is from a book i have on electrical design
my question please explain how how he got the area to be .167 sq. in.
here is my calculation:
i found the diameter # 12 wire from the tables to = .081 inches
i divide that by 2 to get the radius = .0405
area = 3.14 x radius squared = 3.14 x .0016 = .0050 sq. inches
.0050 sq inches does not equal to .167 sq inches
this is where i am confused
thank you
