Hi all,
We are working on a project where we have a dedicated electric, fire alarm and low voltage closet on each floor of a new hotel. The closets have slab openings in the back for the routing of risers. Any panels and equipment will be installed in front of those risers. If the closets have a 2 hour rating can we have the conduits passing through the slab without closing or rating the slab openings?

Thanks!

I've never seen an open riser shaft run up through electrical/data closets. We firestop all of our vertical penetrations with pourable firestop. On large projects we hire a professional firestop contractor to close all of the penetrations because the are generally cheaper and frankly do a much better job.
