Small Electrical Contractor considering changing the way we do business.

I don't want to start a union / vs non union debate but what did that look like? That is a unusual move. Did your employees vote to de-certify?
I have worked both union and non-union, and one of the smaller union shops wanted to decertify but if they did they would all loose pensions or at least thats what they were told.
Keep in mind that Florida is a right to work state. Very little Union. State and local government jobs don't have prevailing wage requirements. I live in Florida. I lived in California for 25 years. I am truly neutral on the Union/non-union issue. I believe both, in balance, are the best situation, but that just isn't true in Florida. That is why our wages are quite low.

I have a few boxes of my own, they are good and secure but I always moved them myself. Owning a heavy truck to move them can be a money pit if you don't know what you are doing and can't keep it some kind of busy. Here is one of a bunch of them I moved for the contractor at the Freedom Tower site in Manhattan. They rented them from MobilMini and they were oversized I believe 12 foot wide. I have no idea why they needed the oversized ones. Mobil Mini will deliver the standard sizes themselves if you rent one from them in case you want to try out the idea before you buy any.

I don't believe I've ever seen a 12' wide connex. Nice truck!!

I've seen a guy running around with 20 foot sea cans using a hook lift truck like this but smaller. You can even get a hook lift chassis for a small truck like an F600 Ford. An empty 20 foot sea can only weighs about 5000 pounds, I've put them on upper decks with an 844 Lull. But anyway, the guy welded the rails and the front hook on the sea containers and was moving them with a little International hook lift with hydraulic brakes.

The only problem I see with that setup is that it only goes on the truck one way with the doors always facing the back. If you are working in a tight area sometimes you can end up with the doors facing the wrong way once it's on the ground.
