This is somewhat out of normal type of work so I thought I'd ask to make sure I'm not over complicated it. I've got little, standalone dryer unit with a MOCP of 8.6A. Does this mean I have to put an 8A fuse or circuit breaker instead of a normal cable plugged into a wall outlet? It just seems odd to me that it'd be designed in such a way that the latter is not allowed. Full electrical specs below:

Electrical Data
Standard Power Supply 115/1/60 V/Ph/Hz
Nominal Electric Consumption 0.31 (3.1) kW (A)
Total Input Current 4.2A
Minimum Circuit Ampacity (MCA) 5.1A
Maximum Rating of Overcurrent Protective Device 8.6A
Fuse Max. 8.0A

Going to be pretty hard to use that on a standard 15 amp circuit. IMO if the MaxOCPD is less than 15 amps it should have integral protection. Does this have a cord and plug on it?

No cord and plug or internal fuse on the unit. Talked to the manufacturer about this. Right now I'm thinking I'll just mount a jbox on the side with an 8 amp inline fuse then put a plug and cord from that. I didn't buy it but I'm guessing somebody went directly to a factory and bought something a manufacturer would usually put into a larger assembly rather than use as a standalone unit.
