Smoke/Carbon Monoxide detector location

Just need to verify that the detectors must be within 12" of the ceiling, battery operated or hard-wired.

On a wall mounted smokie: yes. I would double check that with NFPA 72 since it might vary depending on type of use.

Also check the installation instructions from the manufacturer, they will probably have some information on placement.
