smoke detector in dog house

I don't know if this is the right topic for this question but,I am wiring a Dog Kennel of sort they will be putting cages along the walls of a building 100 ft long by 60 ft wide, anyway I see on the plans it calls for smoke detectors??anybody know what would be the reason for them, not a NEC issue.
 
maybe but all them being locked up don't know if one of the dogs would be able to unlock it's cage to call 911
 
How could you ever keep the smoke detector clean ?

I don't that laser particle detector is even a good "fix" either.

Why not a heat detector(s) in the pen and smokes for the people :)
 
Are the smokes tied into any kind of alarm panel? or are they stand alones? Most kennels around here have someone on site 24/7 so even a stand alone would draw some attention...that is if the dogs howling don't drown it out..lol

Funny you should ask. I just finished estimating a dog kennel. The spec's required heat detectors in kennel area and smokes in the hallways and office areas. You most likely as mentioned above check with the local AHJ.
