I have a 3 story building. the building has an existing fire alarm system. The building tenants consists of mostly offices/reception, computer rooms, storages, Elec rooms, IT rooms and corridors. There will be a new tenant moving into the first floor (so it is going to go under renovation) first floor only. as far as i know smoke detectors are required in IT rooms and elec rooms. From going through florida building code and nfpa. Are smoke detectors required in other locations such as offices?? storages?? offices with 5+ computers?

thank you

The smoke detector location requirements will be found in the IBC and in NFPA 101. The locations depend on occupancy type, construction type, sprinkler system, and other considerations like space type, specific equipment to be protected, and hazard classification so I can't directly answer your question. Smoke detectors are not required in IT rooms or electrical rooms, but they are required within 5' of fire alarm control panels and power supplies in unattended locations.
