I am doing a rewire of a mod that was moved. 1 floor no basement, what is the general location of the smokes and how many is typical in this 3 bedroom 1 bath?
It hadnt even really occurred to me I forgot them and going to throw a roll of 3 cond back on the truck, good to remind me about CO too.. I cant recall ever seeing them in bedrooms but makes sense being interconnected.
That falls into the requirements of your local jurisdiction. We don't need them in furnace rooms here in Washington but we have a new requirement of a heat detector in attached garages.Ya, I didnt word that well, meant smokes in BR. Do we need both in furnace room?

But not within 4" of the ceiling or in a corner.Walls are no problem they just need to be within 12" of the ceiling.
In my State, it is the State Fire Marshal's office that dictates the smoke alarms.Does anyone know what document is being used for enforcement most broadly in the country? I know it isn’t NEC. Some other NFPA publication?
