Solid equipment grounding conductor (egc)

I agree 250.118 allows the use of a solid egc but I see that as being used in other than raceway. Where does it permit the use of solid wire for an egc that is larger than #10????? If this were a cable tray or other wireway that has hinged doors then you may be able to use solid egc.

What is the purpose of stating hat the use of solid wire larger than #10 is prohibited in raceways if you are going to say that 250.118 allows us. As far as I can tell you are saying there are no situations that an egc cannot be solid larger than #10. Basically you are saying that 310.3 should not exist.

310.3 is clear

I agree with Rob and the others that state you cannot put 2 AWG solid in a raceway.

Besides the fact it would be a very difficult install there is a very good chance the solid 2 AWG would damage the other conductors as it was pulled through bends and conduit bodies.

I also cannot help but add that only a person that has no hands on experience would even think of suggesting to use 2 AWG solid in a raceway.

Is using Carflex as sleeving above ground for #2 tinned solid used for bonding stuff to the ground ring at a cell site not allowed?

The code states raceway. My feeling is if you are sleeving it then it is not an issue esp. since there are no other conductors in the raceway. We do it all the time with GEC . If there are other conductors then I may change my mind. :)

Unfortunately, the wording in the NEC does not clarify this so it is anyones guess.
