Ok, I'm supposed to be doing some coursework but I'm procrastinating. So, here's some pics

View attachment 1668 me in Saudi Arabia '98 in front of our tent

View attachment 1667 some of the crew and me on right with shotgun

View attachment 1666 a PDP (Power Distribution Panel)...missing its cover

View attachment 1669 inside the primary side of an SDC (Secondary Dist. Center) with some burned cables and load break elbows

View attachment 1670 this is the kind of stuff we worked on the whole time I was there. It got better (not as many burn ups) as it got later in the year since the ambient temps got down to around 100 degrees during the day in November.

The deployable system was designed for a six month deployment. When I got there the equipment was around 3 years old I think. Plus overloading and high heat (130- 140 in the shade) and harsh environment. The base had about 5,000 armed forces and civillians and was about twice the size the system was set up for. We added some new generators and primary circuits but it was still overloaded big time.

Thanks guys. It was definitely an honor serving. Something I'd do again and recommend to anyone. I learned a lot about life and the electrical trade during my service. I'll always remember it with fondness
