Something to Ponder

Telegraph operators received severe electric shocks as solar-induced currents surged through the networks. It was as though the Earth had been immersed in a bath of electricity.

There were also storms in the 50's that caused major damage to power generation facilities.

Ham radio operators keep a close watch on the sun and are very familiar with it's history and it's effects on electrical equipment.

Some of them can bounce radio waves off the auroras and talk to one and other by doing so.

This solar cycle has been unique in more than one way.

All I can say is 'stay tuned'. If we got another cycle like we had in 1859 the results would be catastrophic. Hopefully we will have a few more mild cycles to prepare before we get another one severe enough to do such damage. We rely too much on communication now, more so than ever before in history. It's not if, it's when we will get solar storms. The same goes for the opposite. Sometimes the sun goes through quiet spells. The Maunder Minimum was one such spell and the result was a mini Ice Age.

seems to me in y2k, when the sky was going to fall in, they predicted some similar crap that never came about. it might disrupt some satellite communications, that's about it.
Wait till the galactical alignment 2012 you will be wishing it was y2k over again. We are aligning with a black hole in the center of the milky way galaxy the sky may very well fall in.

I think someone has been pulling your hoof.

Question

Hi, i have a question about the sun alignment in the center of the galaxy in 2012. Will the sun be in the EXACT center of the galaxy? or just lined up/next to the center of the sun. If you can, can you explain this to me. (15 years old) Thank you very much.

I can't explain it because it is just an Internet hoax. There is no alignment with the center of the Galaxy in 2012 or any time. As to the Sun being in the center of the Galaxy, that it impossible; the Sun and solar system will always remain at about 30,000 light years from the galactic center. These stories on the Internet are simply lies, and I am sorry if they have been a problem for you. A lot of the stuff on the Internet is wrong, and you have to learn to distinguish the truth from the lies. One simple test is to ask if any of these claims are made by real scientists, or if they have been reported in newspapers or on TV news. The stories about alignments or disaster striking in 2012 do not pass this test.

This is your government telling you everything will be OK. What do you think they are going to say??

You know your probably right, my info was from NASA and they are the ones that faked the moon landing. :D

Didnt you guys from Mass have a tea party????

Yeah that was over something important ........ money. :D

But you could attend "Understanding the 2012 Phenomenon Conference" for only $195 here in Boston on May 11th. Be sure to wear your tinfoil hat.

It kinda tickles me - mankind has existed for at least 10,000 years without electricity. Along comes Edison, give it a few decades, and the potential short term absence of it becomes fodder for people to stir up panic about.

When the tornado hit my parents' town last May, leaving them without power for a couple days, I offered for them to stay out at my house. My mom just kinda gave me one of those looks, and said, "We'll be fine, it's not that big a deal." Took me a day or two to realize, no, it ain't. :)

I realize this sentiment is in conflict with my chosen profession, but people sell other people stuff they can live without the world over. :D
