I'll ride anything and everything at Bush Gardens, Disney, etc. That stuff is all overbuilt with a safety factor of many.

Now those traveling carnivals and fairs are another story. Everything is designed lightweight and portable and the operators are commonly drunks and alcoholics. I won't get on a ferris wheel at a fair.

Potentially.
An alcoholic has an addiction and it is causing problems in his life.
A drunk may just be choosing a singularly inappropriate time to drink.

Seriously, it is possible for someone to just be stupid rather than dependent, but the practical consequences are certainly similar.
