In VA, an LLC and Journeyman/Master are two distinct things.

Only a legal business entity can become a contractor, and must employ a Master in the specialty trade.

Greetings Mr. Hv&Lv

I have the time in grade as an electrician {40 years Nuclear I&C III Technician} although after taking the Journeyman / Master Electrician Exam Prep class, I have learned that in order to qualify for the MASC Municipal Association of South Carolina test which is through the Provexam.com, that I must have worked under a master electrician for 2 years and have them send a written letter so that I can qualify to take the test to become a Journeyman / Master Electrician for the state of South Carolina.
Also, I have a 2-year Associate Degree that would qualify me for 1 year of experience as an electrician.

There are other specifications to be considered in order to take the Master Electrician test.

If I wanted to become a qualified Electrician to perform work on my own I would consider taking the LLR and it is based on my assets to qualify.
