Souther California Edison has started getting serious with replacing & upgrading defective equipment here in Southern California. They are now using helicopters with inferred sensors. When they spot a "Hot Spot", they send in a ground team with a drone to check it out closer.

The neighborhood thought it was a police helicopter.

I met a guy that is under contract to regional POCO, They now use Drones to scout along with 4 wheel polaris to work the power easements runs before they bring in a helicopter with multi-blade branch cutter's. Sadly, before the drone usuage someone hung power out into an easement and it
took out a helicopter... He didn't say anything about infer-red
