So getting ready to go into surgery for my foot again. Just had it done two weeks ago. Don’t ask..lol.

Looking at this FA device and wondering . If it’s not a full conduit job this would only be a 1-2’ piece of EMT or RGS to the accessible ceiling? Not sure why I’m asking as I know but maybe because actually seeing this I’m saying to myself I usually carry 5’ hook . Really it would be dependent on ceiling height obviously .

I think you should ask for a ladder so you can pop that tile up and look. :devilish:

Lol nice. I’d love to see what’s there. Just curious If it could be something else other than conduit hook. Doubt the cable would be unprotected in the wall.

It certainly could be. There's no code prohibiting it, unless there are some special provisions from the state Joint Commission about that, or there was a requirement in the spec. Otherwise, you're probably looking at 3/4" EMT if there's anything at all.

For what it's worth, it looks like a System Sensor horn strobe, not a speaker strobe. In fact, it may be only a strobe. It's not uncommon for speakers to be present only in the vicinity of the nurse's station as hospitals tend to use private mode notification.
