Well now,, that is a little different then moving an outlet for a back splash now isn't it:grin: .

I would never pass that, can't think of a good enough reason, it is almost a life safety issue...

Just my 2 cents...

I agree. Its also a little different than having a piece of equipment protrudeing 8" into the working space instead of 6". I think there are times when both those examples would be acceptable.

But this is more like giving special permission to use #14 on a 20A circuit. The only reason I see for not upsizing the motor is a few $$$$.

Don't know many AHJ's that would hang themselves out to dry or the town or city counsel get into what could end up in court due to a safety issue. With the motor tripping the proper heaters, it can be a number of different things. Such as improper pulley size, improper v-belt, low voltage, and there are surely others also. IMHO :smile:
