Would a crimp on butt splice qualify as acceptable under those circumstances?

I'm not sure if they're listed for use on premises wiring.

I forgot to mention: I once found a twisted "factory splice" in the middle of a 500' spool of thhn. Not insulated or anything, just bare and twisted. Luckily, I was feeding the wire; I always comb the wires with my fingers, and felt it.

I Wish I Had Luck Like That. Reminds Of A Time A Wre Nut Was Stuck In A Conduit And I Had About 80' Of Wire And I Couldn't Pull Any More. 3 Hrs Later I Pulled Apart The Conduit And Found A Wire Nut Stuck In There.

I am not thrilled with butt splices because I have seen enough of them fail. But in fairness to butt splices I would bet most were applied using plier type tools. It is near to impossible to reliably make a proper crimp with a plier type tool. A ratcheting type crimper does make a pretty reliable crimp. I guess the answer is a crimped on splice using a ratcheting type crimping tool would make me feel somewhat secure.

But wait! That would mean it's the boss's fault. That can't be! I should know; I am a boss.

It's gotta be the new guy's fault! Yeah, that's it! It's in the job-description. Yeah!

A man that I used to work for had a sign in his office that read;

Company Rules;
Rule #1: The boss is always right.
Rule #2: If you think that the boss is wrong... read rule #1.
