Splicing #12 stranded Low-Voltage and 14-2 solid NMB

Is there a code that applies to using a 14-2 or 12-2 solid wire, to feed out of a low voltage transformer (12v or 24v), and once your destination has been reached(ie. exterior wall), splice to the stranded "low voltage" wire... then complete your run and connect your lighting etc.

Shouldn't be an issue, as long as the wire type is suitable for the environment.

The only other issue is keeping in mind that low voltage is often high amperage, and depending on where the transformer is, and the length of the run to the exterior wall, voltage drop with 14/2 might be dicey.

Actually you should be commended for using the proper wiring method within the structure. Most people would just run the outdoor landscape wire right to the transformer.

as said above the amperage is usually higher. Always make sure you use the right wire for the job.
