have any of you guys ever done a T splice on primary side of an electrical service. power company have approved t splicing primary to set a trans. for a house half way down a long driveway.

Yes, Years ago. I didn't think T splices were still available. I would not put one in nor would I approve one on our system. Put in two straight splices and two elbows in the pot. The PoCo will thank you later, plus the terminations may be easier to find.

If you are talking about a hand tape splice they can be done but if you have no experience it won't last very long. I take it the primary cable is not owned by the POCO?

Can you not replace the existing transformer with a feed through type and move the existing one to the end of the line for the new load?
