One concern I would have would be the threads getting crushed by the clamping (as opposed to screwing, like on an Ericsson) style of installation.
You have to align the threads (to install correctly :p). An inherent downside in using split couplings.
 
Are these "split" couplings for dry locations only or do they have a way to seal water out of the "split"

I bet you won't find one suitable for use in hazardous locations - at least not class 1 locations, maybe class 2 or 3 could be possible.

The couplings (OZ SSPs) are concrete tight. They can save your bacon if running GRS is a pour with lots of rebar. ( one that's hard to work in).
