Split, Slip or Repair?

I have made slip couplings by cutting away the centering ridge in standard ones.

I agree, I mentioned using this as an option.
Personally, I would use regular couplings and heat up a piece of conduit and noodle it in place.

Yup, I would do the same thing with 4” too.
It may be harder to line up the conduits and use slip or expansion couplings if they were never connected vs damaged.

Maybe the conduit run should have started at the wall where the stubs were fixed in the wall.
A little planning solves many problems before they come up.
